Abstract:
Ultrasonic treatment of 3-oxo trinuclear [Fe3O(piv)6(H2O)3](piv)·Hpiv pivalate clusters
and N,N,N´,N´-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine ligand (H4teed) in acetonitrile solution
gave a hexanuclear [Fe6O2(piv)8(Hteed)2] (1) cluster. The use in the same reaction sodium
azide yielded another hexanuclear [Fe6O2(piv)6(Hteed)2(N3)2] (2) cluster. Compounds 1 and
2 have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and IR spectroscopy.
