Abstract:
The results of chemical composition, spectral analysis and antimicrobial assessment of industrially produced Coriandrum sativum L. essential oil are reported. The gas chromatographymass spectrometry analysis allowed the identification of 32 components belonging to terpenes (26,43%), aliphatic compounds (71,91%) and heterocycles (0,99%). The chemical composition of the oil was confirmed by spectral IR and NMR analysis. The essential oil of C. sativum exhibited high antimicrobial activity against five strains of bacteria and three species of fungi.
