Abstract:
The study „Ethics and persuasion in the political discourse” analyses the rhetoric of Vlad Filat, leader of the Liberal Democrat Party from Moldavia (PLDM) by using a pluridisciplinary approach: ethics, persuasion and political P.R. Three types of political discourses are researched and analysed: electoral, governmental and parliamentary. In the governmental discourse from the 25th of September 2009 when the president of PLDM become prime minister ofb the Republic of Moldavia, he used as key wordsb the “the Government will…” 35 times andb only “Government” 44 times. We have chosen from his parliamentary discourses one that has a certain degree of emotion because of the political context. It emphasizes on the willingness of Vlad Filat to be the one to “sacrifice” himself for his nation as he was aware that several “political arrests” were to be made. The arguments he used in his discourse alongside allusions and speech pauses were constructed through antithesis, contrast and paradox.
