Abstract:
With the invention of the chat, which is a kind of communication over the Internet
that offers a real-time transmission of text messages from sender to receiver, has been
developed a new form of communication named the language of chat. The studies
highlight the fact that in the Internet-based communication many features of the
everyday spoken language (simplicity, dynamism, concreteness, imagery, etc.) are
reproduced by means of written language. Thus, it shows certain characteristics of
the everyday speech as the violation of the norms of language, but it has also
contributed to the development of new phenomena such as emoticons, inflectives or
leetspeak.
