During the Cold War there was an interest from the two giants of the second half of the twentieth century, about the economic, military, political, cultural and social systems of the opponent. In this article, we will analyse how Western historiography, especially American historiography, has analyzed the Soviet educational system at all levels, both during the Cold War and in the period following the demise of the USSR. The article in question will analyse what issues have been addressed by various authors, namely what were the common elements that we have the chance to meet with various authors, as well as elements that have been addressed by only one author. At the same time, it is important to note that there are certain differences in approach between the authors who studied the Soviet education system during the Cold War and those who studied the subject after 1991. |
