dc.description.abstract In this article we revise the classic definitions of motivation, as well as approaches to the motivation for studying a foreign language. Motivation is an integral part of learning a foreign language; it facilitates the successful achievement of set goals. Motivated students devote more time, effort and resources to learning – as a result, they perform better. Thus, increasing the effectiveness of learning and the development of the interest to study a foreign language is an issue that should not be ignored. In this sense, the article examines several recommendations meant to boost motivation in language learning. en
