dc.description.abstract Reading is a crucial skill for students of English. For many students, reading is not only a problem in their foreign language; it is also a problem in their native language. This fact is troubling because the lack of literacy and poor reading ability prevents individuals from participating in society. This article presents some reflections on teaching reading individually and includes the basic components of reading based on an integrated approach that brings together methods from different perspectives. The teacher’s task is to help students understand what they read and make them became self-motivated readers who are willing to read books on their own outside classes, for pleasure. en
