TEMPS, TRADUCTION ET THÉORIE DE LA PERTINENCE

Abstract

Nous nous proposons de dresser une synthèse des postulats de la Théorie de la pe rtinence, élaborée par Dan Sperber et Deirdre Wilson, dans le contexte des problèmes posés par le transfert des contenus temporels lors de la traduction du français en roumain. L’intérêt de notre démarche est justifié par la variété d’équivalences temporel les constatée dans les versions des sujets apprenants, mais aussi par la fréquence des solécismes et des non-correspondances temporelles entre deux systèmes en grande partie parallèles. Le critère de cohérence avec le principe de pertinence est à notre avis un outil méthodologique et descriptif prometteur, compatible avec un potentiel modèle traductologique.

The main purpose is to present an overview of the main assumptions of Relevance theory, a framework proposed by Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson, in respect of translation challenges when dealing with temporal information in Romanian and French. Our interest in exploring this field is justified by the large variety of temporal equivalences in translation exercises with Romanian as a target language, the frequency of solecisms and mismatching between two mostly parallel systems. The criterion of consistency with the principle of relevance provides in our opinion a promising methodological and explicative approach compatible with a broader traductological research nature.
