Relaţiile dintre Federaţia Rusă şi Uniunea Europeană, două puteri regionale, au un caracter privilegiat, special, decurgând din evoluţia seculară. Existenţa la momentul actual a mai multor centre de putere, inclusiv Rusia şi Uniunea Europeană, poate fi explicată prin politica secolului al XXI-lea, prin conjunctura internaţională care s-a creat odată cu dezmembrarea URSS-ului şi a lagărului socialist, precum şi prin prezenţa intereselor geopolitice şi geostrategice ale marilor actori contemporani în diverse zone de pe mapamond. Astfel, în prezentul articol se face o analiză a relaţiilor Uniunii Europene cu Federaţia Rusă. De asemenea, sunt analizate principalele documente, atât aspectele pozitive, cât şi cele negative ale acestora, care constituie baza juridică a relaţiilor dintre aceste două puteri regionale.
