Abstract:
The role of the media is to reflect reality in all its complexity. The basic principle is respect
for the truth, objective presentation of facts, fundamental documentation, balanced, neutral
presentation of the opinion of all participants in the event. Television, including the one from the
Republic of Moldova, in its news and documentary programs, falsifies reality through various
methods. The use of fake news occurs in parallel with the presentation of factoid materials, which
leads to distortion of the truth, manipulation and misinformation. Television does not present the
truth, does not reflect the existing reality, but creates a pseudo-reality, a false reality. Thus, televisual
reality camouflages the real political, economic, social, national, cultural problems that
exist in Moldovan society and creates for the viewer an unreal world, a world of illusions. The
televisual image produced by TV does not contribute to the understanding of the facts, to the real,
true knowledge of life. It takes the viewer into the space of emotions, sensations, spectacle. The
article suggests some solutions to remedy the situation.
