Abstract:
Artificial intelligence shapes our lives perceptibly and with acceleration. In the aftermath of
the COVID-19 pandemic, the employment of digitalization and artificial intelligence has surged
in all areas of life, bringing both opportunities and challenges. This article considers the status
of the gendered impact of AI at the intersection of technology and gender equality. The objective
of this article is to address the proliferation of artificial intelligence as a novel global challenge
likely to have a disadvantageous and prejudicial impact on gender equality it is left out of sight
and if humankind will step in this unchartered territory oblivious of the risks for goals and aspirations
that the world has been working towards for decades. The primary method applied was a
semi‑systematic literature review. The key results are that artificial intelligence could also generate
risks in addition to opportunities for advancing the gender equality agenda.
