Abstract:
This article systematizes the impact of price changes on the procurement process
for agricultural products in the Republic of Moldova. Its purpose is to analyze the change in
the consumer price index on the process of purchasing agri-food products in the Republic of
Moldova.
In order to rebalance the demand and supply of agricultural products, efforts to stimulate
agricultural research and innovation and to open up international markets must be stepped
up. Given the uncertainties regarding the evolution of commodity prices, it will be necessary
to continue to monitor the behavior and performance of the markets regarding their state
regulation.
In an open market economy, the formation of prices is the result of the confrontation between
supply and demand but depends on many factors that are in complex interaction. First of all,
it must be said that any actor in the market, buyer or seller, participates through its behavior
in the formation of the market price from the moment of the exchange. For storable
agricultural products such as cereals and oilseeds, the analysis of the input (supply) / output
(demand) balance can indicate the trend of evolution of purchase prices at the level at which
it is made: regional, national or supranational. If it is found that the inputs (supply) are not
at the level of expectations, it is assumed that we will expect an upward trend in the
purchase price.
